INTRODUCTION

Introduction

Save Mothers and Children Initiative SMACI is an Indigenous professional, not-for-profit, non-political, non- governmental organization (NGO) formed in April, 2006 aimed at fighting global poverty. Creating awareness, emergency responses, Psychosocial support and service delivery on issues to do with health promotion, disease prevention, alleviate survivors’ hardship and to improve health and education, promote social justice gender equity and equality, open up economic opportunities make communities more resilient and less vulnerable to the forces that cause emergencies


SMACI is currently operating in the 14 LGA of Zamfara state with affiliation in the entire North West region Nigeria SMACI relies on a strong relationship with communities, facilities Government and its different partners. Our management team consists of competent and experience professional all our program team is equally headed by an experience and well qualified professional who has been active in the implementations of different interventions both within and outside the state setting.

SMACI NGO penetrates in to the communities, wards, districts and Local Governments and always found the missing links on why communities shun away from certain Health Programmed. This strategy has made tremendous impacts in cementing the bond of relationship between government, communities and other international donor agencies, in exchanging the utilization of preventive health services targeted to men, women, youth, and children.

SMACI always prioritized the women program as they are classified as poor, uneducated and illiterate. women Suffer not only mentally but also from Poor health poor education to poor nutrition to violence and brutalization, to vulnerable and low pay employment, the sequence of discrimination and atrocities a woman may suffer during her entire life.

LEGAL STATUS     
SMACI is registered with Cooperate Affairs Commission CAC -Registration Statute, 2006 as an NGO (Reg. No. CAC/IT/NO 30132) and with Zamfara State Directorate for NGO, Ministry of Youth and Skill Besides, SMACI is also a registered member of a number of active and credible networks like Zamfara State Coalition of NGO, Zamfara AIDS Services Organization Network (ZASON), Zamfara Health Network and Zamfara Women Empowerment Network.

Our aims                                                                                             
                SMACI is committed to provide technical, logistic and programmatic support using the existing Local and Innovative Solutions, to salvage the people of Northern Nigeria from the Poor health poor education, poor nutrition, violence and brutalization. To that end we make a significant progress in Improved sexual and reproductive health of adolescent girls and boys, Increased skills and knowledge on ASRHR, gender equality, positive gender norms and life skills for Very Young Adolescents (VYA) and older in Zamfara state. Reducing poverty Promotes entrepreneurial culture through initiatives that build business confidence, positive attitude, pride in success, support and encouragement of new ideas and social responsibility, as Nigeria is experiencing deepening inequality and is struggling to lower maternal mortality rates, reduce gender inequality and improve environmental sustainability


Our Focus                                                                                                              
                SMACI focuses on promoting Sexual Reproductive Health and Right y Iimproving access of high quality gender-responsive and adolescent-friendly SRH services. These areas include Family Planning, HIV/AIDs, Maternal Health and New born Care

We also on promoting good governance in development areas that have direct impact on poor and vulnerable groups especially women, children and scheduled tribes. These areas include livelihood, water and sanitation, education and security. SMACI gives special attention to underserved and marginalized locations including slums, remote tribal in poor districts and rural communities of Zamfara.
